I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile, specifically because there were too many silent missed calls. Silent meaning my device never showed I had a missed call.This was a pattern across more than a year, spanning multiple devices (all iphones). It happens on both wifi and cellular. It happens with wifi calling enabled and disabled. It happens with people I call every day, in my address book, as well as new contacts (say someone I met who called to follow up). I called support, searched online, reset network settings multiple times at different points months apart.After being on T-Mobile for about a year, the degraded service is about the same as Verizon. Every week, more than once, people call me, my phone never rings, and I never see a missed call on my device. It happens at home, at work, on work trips in different states.I still get missed calls regularly and my device shows I missed the call. It seems like a certain % of callers get my VM, but I never know the call attempt happened. The missed calls never appear later on my phone (like a late VM or text deliver, coming minutes or sometimes hours after it was sent).Hypothesis: A growing number of cellular subscribers don&#x27;t care enough or use voice calls as much, so (regardless of motive&#x2F;feelings) cellular providers have found they can simply reduce quality without losing customers.

I saw the natural order of things where MVPs or quickly developed tools had to be refactored &#x2F;redesigned to be more secure or at least up to standard. That&#x27;s OK. However we are as strong as our weakest link.As we scaled, each department (also non-tech) slowly started being more proactive, mini tools developed by managers, or leaders, e.g CRM workflows, random scripts, docs, sheets, and now vibe coded tools. All of these are now potential attack vectors. We add to this:- Non-tech folks in the company, you impose rules, password managers and rotations, but you always have a small percentage of bad actors.
- External users not putting good passwords, or using pwned passwords never changing them
- Some product decisions or weaknesses built on purpose to facilitate usage of the tools (which goes against perfect security).In our case it caused us being a target, we are under attack most of the time. We secured our tools under WAF with standard approaches (rate limits, blocking IPs, bot detection), but it feels like there&#x27;s always a flaw&#x2F;leak somewhere to fix.With LLMs attacks are becoming more and more interesting, harder and hard to prevent or detect. We have a proper dev team, good at maintaining the codebase and libraries. You can imagine our mindset shifting from &quot;full feature dev + good maintenance&quot; to &quot;some feature dev, a shit ton of security monitoring&quot;.Our users are not tech savvy. Things like passkeys are sadly out of the question. Even MFA seemed out of reach at some point. Some of them sadly get phished from time to time, it angers us. We are a small team. We recently launched an early-stage product on the App Store and started trying to build in public on X.In practice, I found it pretty difficult to get the official product account off the ground. X seems to rely heavily on engagement from existing followers to determine whether a post gets distributed more widely. It doesn&#x27;t simply push content to a large audience of strangers just because certain hashtags are used. This creates a vicious cycle: without followers, it’s hard to get engagement; without engagement, the content rarely reaches a wider audience; and without that reach, it becomes even harder to gain new followers.
